Director: Ralph Fiennes

Starring: Oleg Ivenko, Ralph Fiennes and Louis Hofmann

Inspired by Julie Kavanagh’s book: “Rudolf Nureyev: The Life”

Capturing the raw physicality and brilliance of Rudolf Nureyev, whose escape to the West stunned the world at the height of the Cold War.

With his magnetic presence, Nureyev emerged as ballet’s most famous star, a wild and beautiful dancer limited by the world of 1950s Leningrad. His flirtation with Western artists and ideas leads him into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse with the KGB.

Dancing by Oleg Ivenko is evocative of the great man himself.

The film’s title derives from the Russian phrase “belaya vorona”, or “white crow”, meaning an outsider or nonconformist, a person who stands out from his or her contemporaries in the way that a white crow would stand out from its black fellows.

Doors open 30 min. before screenings for Front Row and Sunday cinema.
Ricks Café is open for tea, coffee and refreshments on Sundays for 30 min. prior to screenings.
